Dear Fellow Newarkers:
First Night Newark, Inc. is offering fellow cultural, educational, religious and social service agencies a number of opportunities to participate in this year?s millennium celebration.
Share the Light - Ignite the Spirit! is the theme of this year's First Night Newark as the city prepares to ring in the New Year and make way for the new millennium. Downtown Newark will come alive on New Year's Eve regardless of weather with thousands of people participating in First Night Newark.
This visual and performing arts celebration is designed to welcome the New Year in a non-alcoholic and substance free environment that revives the ancient tradition of marking the passage of time with art, ritual and festivity.
From 7:45 pm to 10:45 pm festival goers will enjoy craft workshops, performances and other activities for all ages at 20 venues in the downtown area. At 10:45 pm there will be a community procession from Military Park down Broad Street to the new Riverfront Stadium at Bridge and Broad Streets. The festivities culminate at the stadium with live entertainment and a spectacular laser show from 11:30 to 12:30 pm which ends this safe, fun, family event that heralds a new year and the new millennium with new promises for our city.
We are looking for volunteers, participants for the luminaria project, artists and entertainers. We are also offering an opportunity for your group to purchase buttons at a group rate to re-sell or distribute to your clients and constituents. Your organization can also use this opportunity as a fund raiser.
The back of this letter details this Newark opportunity. To participate in any or all of these activities, please fax the enclosed form to First Night Newark as soon as possible at 973.643.1954 or mail it to the First Night Newark office. We want your school or organization to participate in the biggest party of the century. Don?t miss out!
Sincerely,
Laurence Brown, Sr.
